The following history of the club is based on an article "Remembering" written by Betty MacDuff and distributed to members at the 2000 Convention. The history below will trace our history from the start to presenday. Go to bottom for latest history
1981 Club formed by Robert Dellaposta from Lucerne Mines, Pennsylvania. Planned show and swap meet for 1982
Jan- 1st Candy Gram published by Robert Dellaposta Robert. He Published the Candy Gram from Jan 1981 to Jun 1984
Dues was $15.00 for 12 issues per year of the Candy Gram (12 pages per issue).
Jul- Dues was set at $18.00 per year
1982
Aug- 1st Convention held August 6 & 7 in Indiana, Pennsylvania. It consisted of a Banquet and display of candy containers by members. Activities include visiting local flea markets, antique shops and tour of a glass factory in Jeannette, PA.
1983
Feb- Candy Gram goes bi-monthly since Robert could not get members to contribute. Dues dropped to $10.00 per year.
Jun- 2nd Convention held at Harrisburg, PA. Membership rises to 78 members.
Oct- Membership up to 92. Only 6 issues of Candy Gram published instead of 12 due to lack of member support.
1984
Apr- Membership now 91 members.
Jun- 3rd Convention held at Harrisburg, PA. Robert Phifer presented a proposed Constitution and By Laws which were approved.
Jul- Marilyn Cooper and Robert Phifer become co-editors of Candy Gram and serve to June 1986.
Became an official organized club. The name Candy Collectors of America was adopted.
Oct- 1st issue to feature an actual photograph of a candy container.
Serge Agadjanian sold his collection of 253 pieces.
1985
Jun- Membership is now at 200
4th Convention held in Harrisburg, PA. hosted by Jack Raudenbush, 74 members attended
1986
Jul - The 5th Convention was held in Brimfield, Mass . on July 10th with jack Raudenbush as host.
Aug - Wayne & Jinny Thomas takes over as co-editors of the Candy Gram. till Dec 1993 . Jinny became sole editor from Feb 1994 till Aug 1994
1987
6 th Convention re- located to Reading, PA, with Doug Dezso taking over as Convention Chairman, 1987-1992
Mary Calhoun and Gene Deible design clubs 1st t-shirt. Gene has expanded his tradition to include sweat shirts and hats.
1993
Terry Whitmeyer takes over as Convention Chairman
1994
Jun- Membership now has grown to 525
1995
Feb- Lee and Rose Poirer becomes the new Candy gram co-editors, until June of 1998
1998
Dec- Sidney McAllister set up Club Web Site and manages till June 1999
1999
Feb - Roberta Morrison take over as editor of Candy Gram till April of 2000
Jun - Suzi Bell take over as web master till Nov 2003
2000
This year the June Convention is Moved from Reading, to Lancaster, PA.
Bill Willey assumes the job of temporary Candy Gram editor till Aug 2000
Oct- Doug Deszo take over as editor of Candy Gram till June 2002
2002
Aug- Thom Cooper agrees to take on editor's job for Candy Gram. The Candy Gram
is upgraded to the computer age with many more color photos now possible.
2003
Nov- John Small takes over Candy Container Collectors of America Web site
from Suzi Bell.
2004
Gene Deible takes over as editor of the Candy Gram. The Candy Gram goes to a
quarterly Publication (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter). Our first Auction of a candy
container collection takes place at the June Convention.
2006
25th Anniversary of Club held at Eden Resort Inn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania
2007
Jim Olean assumes the role of Candy Gram editor.
2011
Sep- Club Web site was changed from our past publisher because of lack of support. Weebly.com, now supports our present site, which has been redesign to serve our members better by Web Master- John Small. Cec Scholey has join John as co-editor. Club Members have been invited to apply for a store on Market Place were they can buy & sell there extras to other Members.
2012
May - Several stores are now activated for the Sale of Candies, including three collections, one is for sale as a lot, the other two can be bought piece by piece. Also a store for Replacement parts is available.
Jun- Convention: Pam Maze- was elected President and John Small- Vice President, many thanks to Jim Ingle & Ray Mease for there service in these offices.
2015
Jul- Fred Bowers volunteers to assist on the Web Site.

Jun- Terry Whitmeyer and Frank Pavgouzas take over the roll of Candy Gram editors from Jim Olean.
The dues structure was changed. Membership will cost $20.00 if you want to receive a hard copy of Candy Gram.
For those electing to receive a copy online or via e-mail and print their own copy the cost was reduced to $10.00.
